Chapter XI

She stood shock that Victor was there. Why would he have any reason, she haven’t seen him since he was a teenager.

“Why are you back here? Haven’t done enough.”

“I haven’t done anything.” Victor said.

“You have ruined my marriage.”

“No, you ruined the marriage yourself.” Victor said as he enter her home.

“You force me to sleep with you!”

“I didn’t force you to do anything. Maybe I was everything your husband wasn’t. Maybe I was doing something that he wasn’t doing when he came home. Because even after the first time it became a routine with you.” Victor said pouring him a glass of bourbon. “But you know I’m not her for that. I want to know why your son is living with us now.”

Evelyn laughed. “You think I just keep tabs on him.”

“No, but I see that you completely destroyed his home. But the thing that I don’t know is why.”

Evelyn scoffed. “But you were so close Colombo. Why don’t you know my reasons?”

“Maybe because I don’t care for the reasons. I just wanted to let you know that I was in.”

“In what?” She said confused.

“Don’t play stupid with me. The only thing that you would get yourself in this much trouble for is something that you want and because I know you have a husband, you don’t want sex. But I can’t say that for sure. Even then you want something more.” Victor paused taking a sip. “You are being paid by someone.”

“I’m not giving you a dime.” Evelyn said clinching her teeth. “And what can you, possibly do to me?”

“I can report you to the authorities for tampering with the evidence of an active case, trespassing, and vandalism of your son’s apartment because, you see I’m not your son. I can get you.”

“You get out of my house.” Evelyn said still with her teeth clinched. “Get out!” She said as her rage flared.

Her husband walks into the living where they were standing.

“Is there a problem here?” He said.

“No problem at all. I was actually just getting leaving.” Victor finished his drink with one large gulp. “Thank you for having me here, Evelyn.” He left out of the house.

“What was that about?” Her husband asked.

“Nothing.” She said as walked away leaving him standing in the living room threshold.

Christian was looking inside of his books reading sociology and psychology lessons that he had taken when he was in college. He tried to apply them to the case that he had still worked on. Kyra came down stairs and walked into the living room finishing up a conversation on her cell phone.

“Have you seen Victor?” She asked.

“He left without saying anything. I think he just went to the store.” Christian said with his eyes glued to the page of the book.

“It’s unusual for him to leave without saying anything.” Kyra said hold her phone in hand.

Her phone rang and she answered.

“Where did you go?”

“I just went out to go handle something. I will be home in five, okay.” Victor said like he was rushed off the phone.
